Annuals for cut flowers are generally easy to grow even for beginner gardeners. Here in Nashville, Tn, landscaping with annuals is a great way to increase your homes’ curb appeal.

If you have the space, it’s nice to  have a section in your yard designated as a cutting garden. This way, you don’t have to worry about ruining the look of your perennial beds by cutting a bundle of flowers.

However, if you don’t have that much room, incorporating annuals directly into your existing landscape is the perfect way to go.  Adding annuals will give you that added punch of color that enhances the longevity and beauty of your garden.

Growing Tip: If you are planting in a designated cut flower garden, rather than incorporating your annuals into an existing landscape, space one foot apart to make them easy to cultivate. As the growing season progresses, the rows will merge into one solid mass of color which will discourage weeds.

Another tip is to plant tall flowers such as sunflowers, amaranth, and broom corn in the back of the bed. In the front of the bed plant zinnias, cockscomb, and globe amaranth.

Check the seed packet for mature height before you plant.
