Acer Landscape Services is excited to share with you information about a wonderful non-profit organization called Urban Green Lab.  UGL is Nashville’s first nonprofit dedicated to improving well-being through sustainable living.

Sounds great but what do they do?

Over the past couple of years, I’ve watched them grow and help the community by offering the folks here in the Nashville area a variety of workshops on things like urban agriculture, making rain gardens and rain barrels, and perform soil and water quality testing with local public school students, and more.  What more could we ask for?  UGL is an important and vibrant member of our community and we are thrilled that they picked Nashville to start this new venture.

As part of their mission, they endeavor to “inspire people of all ages to incorporate sustainability into their daily lives – spark positive changes at home and work that save money, improve health, and conserve resources.”

I love that!

Want to find out more and get involved? Here’s how:

Through partnerships with local businesses and governments (i.e. Nissan, Dell, and Mayor Karl Dean), as well as with nonprofit organizations (maybe yours?), they want to expand their reach by offering services and also team with local colleges to monitor their impact on the community.

With your help – as a volunteer, donor, or participant – they are being intentional and building a community-based movement right here in Nashville’s backyard.  So, please follow them on Twitter, visit their Facebook Page for more photos of recent events, like their page, share it with your friends and tell UGL what types of programs you would enjoy seeing.  Interested in hosting an event at home or work?
