Q. How long should you be mowing your lawn in fall in the Nashville and surrounding areas?

A. Basically, until it stops growing! We get this question a lot actually.  It perfectly fine to keep cutting until temperatures get low enough that the grass stops growing. That’s your cue that you can do one more cut if need be. Just be sure you lower the mowing height for the final cut.  This will enable you lawn to keep its green color longer while helping to prevent disease from developing.

Also, remember it’s a good idea to let your mower run completely out of gas on the last cut. This will prevent gummy deposits from developing over the winter that could make the mower hard to start next spring…..an ounce of prevention…!IMG_0282
